Monthly Meeting Schedule

Education is a primary focus of the NHS. If you are new to horses or a seasoned horse person, there is something to be gained from participation in the NHS. Each month the NHS hosts an open Monthly Meeting featuring a guest speaker addressing a significant topic of interest to the horse person. The NHS monthly meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month and details for each month are found in our Calendar of Events. In addition to our monthly meetings, the NHS regularly provides educational seminars, clinics and other educational programs throughout the year. 

Below is the tentative schedule of our 2008 educational programs. To stay informed of all our events and activities, join our email distribution list at Yahoo Groups. 

Monthly meetings are held at the Nokesville Volunteer Fire Department in Nokesville. The address is 12826 Marsteller Drive, Nokesville , Virginia, 20181 . Our "social time", begins at 7:00 PM, with a potluck.  Although it is not require, feel free to bring your favorite dish to share. Our meeting follows the social time and begins at 7:30 PM.

January Meeting (Jan. 9)
"Ask The Vet" is back.  Dr. Melinda Freckleton of Haymarket Vet Service will be our January guest speaker.  Bring your list of hot topic items and questions for Dr. Freckleton, along with your appetite.  Share some good food, and good times with other horse folks from the community.  
 

February Meeting (Feb. 13)
Our guest speaker will be Southern States Regional Feed Sales and Technical Representative Laura Stopper. Laura has been with Southern States for several years and is a graduate of their “FeedMaster” Training program, which covers everything from anatomy, reproduction, genetics, behavior, health, nutrition and more. Laura’s discussion will answer your questions about equine feed and nutrition from A to Z.  We will also be kicking off our 2008 calendar of events. This will be your chance to give us your input, ideas and suggestions for clinics, meeting topics, show programs, and other events. We will have an open forum to discuss all of our upcoming events for 2008. Southern States will also be our monthly meeting sponsor for the February meeting. They will be providing refreshments and door prizes. As always, our meeting will be the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the Nokesville Fire Hall on Marsteller Drive in Nokesville. Our social time precedes the meeting at 7:30pm, followed by our meeting and guest speaker. Although it is not required, feel free to bring a side dish to share. (Inclement Weather Policy: If Prince William County Schools Evening Activities are closed the NHS monthly meeting is cancelled.)

An expert panel of show experts, trainers and judges will answer your training questions, show questions and horse questions in general.  Our experts include:

• Joe London - Gaited horse trainer
• Kim England - AQHA judge
• Martha Duchnowski - Preeminent Pleasure Driving trainer

Join NHS members as we share the Holiday spirit.  Although not required, we invite you to bring your favorite dish to share. The party will start at 7:30 PM.  As with all NHS monthly meetings, the NHS Christmas Party will be held at the Nokesville Vol. Fire Hall.
